Staff Accountant

Walnut Capital is seeking an outgoing, organized, and dependable Staff Accountant capable of working in a dynamic environment. This person will support all aspects of accounts payable, receivables, and reporting ensuring deadlines and tenant oversight occurs with the highest degree of accuracy.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Approve invoices in A/P Automation software by appropriate allocation structure. Vouch and manually enter approved invoices for payment as needed
  • Comfortable with numerous allocations across properties as well as inter company activity
  • Interfaces with appropriate departments / management to secure proper payment approvals
  • Processes all payments to vendors in a timely manner
  • Maintains respective accounts payable / receivable files and records
  • Respond to all vendor and employee inquiries regarding invoices, expenses, and check requests; resolve invoice discrepancies
  • Prepares mthly A/P and A/R reports – review and reconcile to TB as well as maintain current reconciliation status for cash and disbursement accounts.
  • Records monthly tenant receipts / both electronic and live check via remote deposit.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports and record month end entries related to reporting.
  • Performs other accounting related duties to support the accounting department and as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s degree (A. A.) or equivalent, two years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Proficient in MRI / YARDI / PNC A/P Automation a plus
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment
  • Acute attention to detail and commitment to excellence and high standards
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills along with ability to manage priorities and workflow
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of accounting team
  • Must be comfortable in a workplace with dogs

Intern – Leasing

Walnut Capital is looking for Part Time Leasing Interns starting immediately, as well as Summer Interns for the upcoming season. Walnut Capital offers a great opportunity for anyone interested in marketing, event planning, real estate, and property management with one of Pittsburgh’s fastest growing real estate development companies.

Duties include, but are not limited to: 

  • Work closely with rental programs such as Leasing Pad and Rent Café to answer inquiries and manage tenant accounts
  • Shadow leasing agents to show apartments to prospects
  • Prepare keys and organize materials for move in and move out procedures
  • Assist with creating and assembling marketing materials, client packages, and other communication projects
  • Support resident managers of new and upcoming properties in the East End and Uptown
  • Expand the Walnut Capital Perks Program by working with other businesses throughout Pittsburgh
  • Handle day-to-day office tasks, including answering phones, preparing for showings, making appointments, and any other leasing responsibilities

Full Time Leasing Consultant

Walnut Capital is looking for a full time leasing consultant to hire immediately. We offer a great opportunity for anyone interested in both real estate and property management with one of Pittsburgh’s fastest growing real estate development companies.

Duties include, but are not limited to: 

  • Complete all leasing paperwork, applicant screenings, credit checks, and renewals
  • Work with rental programs such as Leasing Pad, Rent Cafe and Yardi to answer inquiries and manage tenant accounts
  • Show apartments to prospects & answer any questions regarding rental rates, sizes, availability, etc.
  • Organize, log, and occasionally deliver all incoming packages for residents
  • Track and enter all purchase orders for the property
  • Prepare keys and organize materials for move in and move out procedures
  • Assist with monthly property events
  • Handle day-to-day office tasks, including answering phones, preparing for showings, making appointments, and any other leasing responsibilites

Qualifications:

  • Real Estate Development or Property Management experience a plus

Painters

Walnut Capital Management is looking for part time and full time summer painters for the upcoming season. This position is primarily responsible for applying coats of paint, varnish, stain, enamel, or lacquer to decorate and protect interior or exterior surfaces, trimmings, and fixtures of buildings and other structures by performing the following duties.

Essential duties and responsibilities: 

  • Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Reads work order or receive instructions from supervisor or homeowner regarding painting.
  • Smoothes surfaces and removes old paint from surfaces to prepare surfaces for painting.
  • Fills nail holes, cracks, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other filler.
  • Selects premixed paints, or mixes required portions of pigment, oil, and thinning and drying substances to prepare paint that matches specified colors.
  • Removes fixtures such as pictures and electric switchovers from walls prior to painting.
  • Spreads drop cloths over floors and room furnishings, and covers surfaces such as baseboards, door frames, and windows with masking tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting.
  • Paints surfaces with brushes, spray gun, or paint rollers.
  • Simulates wood grain, marble, brick, or tile effects.
  • Applies paint with cloth, brush, sponge, or fingers to create special effects.
  • Erects scaffolding or sets up ladders to perform tasks above ground level.
  • Washes surfaces prior to painting with mildew remover.
  • Utilize department communication and information systems through all forms of communications
  • Any reasonable request by management that you are capable of performing
