Leaves might be dropping, but spirits are rising with our lineup of September events!

Around the City:

Pittsburgh's Soul Food Festival
September 1-3 | Market Square, PPG Plaza, & Blvd of the Allies
Established in 2019 in commemoration of Pittsburgh's past food service pioneers and entrepreneurs, such as:
  • Benjamin Richards, who, by 1788, set-up the first Black Butchery in Downtown Pittsburgh on 3rd avenue (current-Day #1 PPG Plaza)
  • Charles Richards, who, by 1795, owned the first Black Restaurant & Lodge on Ferry street (present-Day Stanwix Street)
  • Rev. John C. Peck who in 1838 opened the first Oyster House and Ice-cream Parlor on 3rd avenue
  • John R. Pulpress & Benjamin Pulpress who owned and operated the first Black Fish Stall inside Market Square and at The Allegheny Market House (Northside) on 26th & First Street
The Pittsburgh Soul Food Festival-A Soulful Taste of the Burgh, will see thousands of visitors from across the Country and throughout Pennsylvania.

Asian Lantern Festival
Now Till October | Pittsburgh Zoo
The Pittsburgh Zoo will be honoring our 125th anniversary with a global passport. Get ready for an adventure over the mountains, through the jungle, and under the sea to learn about decades of conservation with a dazzling display.Explore the Zoo at night among giant luminous handcrafted sculptures while learning about Asian history and culture. The festival also features delicious themed-food and amazing entertainment. If you were one of the thousands of guests who marveled at the show before, 2023 features a completely new, not-to-be-missed display of lanterns.

Penn Brewery's Oktoberfest
September 15-17 & 22-24 | Penn Brewery
Penn Brewery's annual Oktoberfest is back for another two weekends of fun! As always, we will combine old-time traditions with new sounds and flavors. Join us at our mid-19th-century building and Biergarten for two weekends of cold bier, delicious food, traditional Bavarian music and plenty of Gemutlichkeit!

Yoga in the Plaza

Your post-work, post-class Happy Hour Yoga Flow in Oakland! Skip the stress of rush hour and stretch in the grass at Schenley Plaza as our instructors lead you through a one hour flow - this drop in, pay-what-you-feel class meets every other Thursday at 5:30pm.

Plaza to Park Trail Run

Lace up your trail runners and join us for our popular Trail Run in Oakland! We’ll meet in Schenley Plaza and hit the pavement, making our way through the trails of Schenley Park, just steps away. This drop in, single group trail run allows the group to set the pace in a noncompetitive environment, great for networking & sweating out the stress of the day.

Final Fridays Disc Golf Party
Last Friday Every Month | Schenley Plaza
Fly into the weekend with a Final Fridays Disc Golf Party - grab your friends or co-workers to play 18-holes on Schenley Park’s classic disc golf course; then, venture to Schenley Plaza where you’ll putt the 19th Hole and join the after party.

Run Shadyside
Fleet Feet BKSQ
Run Shadyside 5K Run/Walk is a fast, flat course through the beautiful shopping district of Shadyside that will take place Saturday, October 7th. This is a fun community event that benefits The Boys & Girls of Shadyside, that is family friendly with baby joggers and dogs welcome.

Enjoy a yoga experience outdoors every Saturday morning from May to September. After the event, join us for brunch at one of our restaurants! Food & drink specials available at City Kicthen and tako torta. City Kitchen is offering $1 off your first mimosa if you present your yoga punch card!

Recovery Runs

We are excited to bring our local running community an additional mid-week group run every Monday evening at 6:30 PM from our Bakery Square location! Join us for a relaxed recovery run of one, three or six miles. You can access the route here, and parking in the garage is free for three hours after 5 PM.

Grey's Anatomy Trivia

18 seasons. Over 400 episodes. Keeping up with this show is no small feat. Join us as we put your nearly decades-long knowledge and love for Grey's Anatomy to the test at City Kitchen, where you'll compete for prizes and pride.

Pub Runs
