After taking its penchant for building luxury townhouses to the heights of Mount Washington, Laurel Communities is headed back down the hillside to the South Side.
The developer is planning to build about 38 for-sale townhouses on the former South Side Hospital property as part of the overall redevelopment of the site.
Laurel Communities is acquiring the land on Josephine Street for the units from Shadyside-based Walnut Capital, which is planning to construct about 257 apartments at the site of the old hospital itself and an empty nine-story medical office building adjacent to it.
