Accounting Associate

Walnut Capital Management is seeking a skilled Accounting Associate to support all aspects of accounts payable and receivable, ensuring that all deadlines are met with the highest degree of accuracy.

Duties include, but are not limited to: 

  • Prepares all vouchers and approved invoices for payment; processes all company payments in a timely manner.
  • Interfaces with appropriate departments to secure proper payment approvals.
  • Prepares accounts payable checks.
  • Assists with maintenance of accounts payable/receivable files and records.
  • Responds to all vendor and employee inquiries regarding invoices, expenses, and check requests; resolves invoice discrepancies.
  • Prepares and prints accounts payable reports; reviews and reconciles periodic reports to maintain current reconciliation status for cash and disbursement accounts.
  • Process tenant payments –both commercial and residential via remote deposit.
  • Assists with related special projects as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Skills and Qualifications: 

  • Associate’s degree (A. A.) or equivalent, one to two years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Yardi is a plus

Intern – Leasing

Walnut Capital is looking for Part Time Leasing Interns starting immediately, as well as Summer Interns for the upcoming season. Walnut Capital offers a great opportunity for anyone interested in marketing, event planning, real estate, and property management with one of Pittsburgh’s fastest growing real estate development companies.

Duties include, but are not limited to: 

  • Work closely with rental programs such as Leasing Pad and Rent Café to answer inquiries and manage tenant accounts
  • Shadow leasing agents to show apartments to prospects
  • Prepare keys and organize materials for move in and move out procedures
  • Assist with creating and assembling marketing materials, client packages, and other communication projects
  • Support resident managers of new and upcoming properties in the East End and Uptown
  • Expand the Walnut Capital Perks Program by working with other businesses throughout Pittsburgh
  • Handle day-to-day office tasks, including answering phones, preparing for showings, making appointments, and any other leasing responsibilities


  • Interns should possess an interest in the Marketing, Event Planning, Real Estate Development or Property Management industry
  • Strong initiative and desire to succeed in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Evening Maintenance Technician 

Maintains building environment and accessibility by maintaining building equipment, heating (limited), cooling, electrical, and plumbing systems; maintaining grounds. This is a mobile position that will be responsible for providing maintenance support throughout the East End of Pittsburgh at multiple apartment building locations.


  • Provide after-hours support from the hours of 5 pm to 11 PM,  2-4 days per week, including one day on the weekend from10 AM to 3 PM.
  • Maintains equipment by installing and repairing associated and backup equipment and systems.
  • Keeps equipment, systems, and building ready for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
  • Secures building and occupants by maintaining alarm and fire protection devices.
  • Maintains system for conveying liquids and liquid waste by installing and repairing plumbing apparatus.
  • Provides system for recycling materials and removing trash by providing containers and monitoring trash disposition.
  • Maintains continuity between shifts by documenting maintenance actions; noting system or equipment irregularities requiring continued monitoring.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Maintains parts and equipment inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed parts and equipment; placing and expediting orders for parts and equipment; verifying receipt of parts and equipment.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Computer proficient in regard to Microsoft Office products and the internet ; knowledge of Yardi or other property management software a plus
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders and work on a roof
  • Must have valid driver’s license

Building Maintenance Technician

This position will perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance duties for luxury multi-family housing facilities.


      • Basic plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, painting, grounds keeping, snow removal,
      • Troubleshooting skills
      • Competent use of hand and power tools
      • Repair/maintenance of a variety of types of equipment
      • 3-5 years’ experience in a multi-family maintenance position
      • Strong oral and written communication skills are a must
      • Ability to provide excellent customer service
      • Perform routine preventive maintenance
      • Must have a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance and a good driving record.

Ideal candidate will be hands on and technically knowledgeable in all aspects of multi-family maintenance including a comfort level with computers (MS Office) and smart phones.

Candidates will work rotating On-Call duty, must be able to meet a 30 minute response time for On Call and/or emergencies. This position is located in the east end of Pittsburgh.

Preference given to candidates with specialized skills in the following areas:

      • HVAC certification preferred with experience working on water source heat pumps
      • Cooling tower management experience
      • Air handling and Energy Recovery units
      • Building Automation Systems

Full Time Leasing Consultant

Duties include, but are not limited to: 

  • Complete all leasing paperwork, applicant screenings, credit checks, and renewals
  • Work with rental programs such as Leasing Pad, Rent Cafe and Yardi to answer inquiries and manage tenant accounts
  • Show apartments to prospects & answer any questions regarding rental rates, sizes, availability, etc.
  • Organize, log, and occasionally deliver all incoming packages for residents
  • Track and enter all purchase orders for the property
  • Prepare keys and organize materials for move in and move out procedures
  • Assist with monthly property events
  • Handle day-to-day office tasks, including answering phones, preparing for showings, making appointments, and any other leasing responsibilites

Walnut Capital Management is looking for part time and full time summer painters for the upcoming season. This position is primarily responsible for applying coats of paint, varnish, stain, enamel, or lacquer to decorate and protect interior or exterior surfaces, trimmings, and fixtures of buildings and other structures by performing the following duties.

Essential duties and responsibilities: 

  • Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Reads work order or receive instructions from supervisor or homeowner regarding painting.
  • Smoothes surfaces and removes old paint from surfaces to prepare surfaces for painting.
  • Fills nail holes, cracks, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other filler.
  • Selects premixed paints, or mixes required portions of pigment, oil, and thinning and drying substances to prepare paint that matches specified colors.
  • Removes fixtures such as pictures and electric switchovers from walls prior to painting.
  • Spreads drop cloths over floors and room furnishings, and covers surfaces such as baseboards, door frames, and windows with masking tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting.
  • Paints surfaces with brushes, spray gun, or paint rollers.
  • Simulates wood grain, marble, brick, or tile effects.
  • Applies paint with cloth, brush, sponge, or fingers to create special effects.
  • Erects scaffolding or sets up ladders to perform tasks above ground level.
  • Washes surfaces prior to painting with mildew remover.
  • Utilize department communication and information systems through all forms of communications
  • Any reasonable request by management that you are capable of performing

Walnut Capital is searching for PITT and CMU students who will represent Walnut Capital to targeted customers at on their campus in order to increase awareness, communicate our brand image, generate referrals and leads, and build customer preference. Position is part-time (assignment-based) and completed on student’s college campus at their own pace. Walnut Capital is looking for Brandbassdors who are passionate about our mission, motivated to complete assignments, and capable of promoting Walnut Capital. Our ideal Brandbassador is competitive, smart, social media savvy, and well-versed, and will embrace the challenges that Walnut Capital sets within the program.

Duties include, but are not limited to: 

  • Embody the Walnut Capital Brand
  • Understand the company’s goals and mission
  • Create awareness, attention, leads and referrals
  • Represent company in an authentic and positive manner
  • Complete bi-weekly tasks throughout each semester (Ex: hanging flyers, posting and sharing on social media, short tabling events, expanding Walnut Perks program etc.)
